The station, which was once a pitstop for Filipino and American prisoners of war during the Bataan death march in 1942, has been closed since the ending of northbound rail services by Philippine National Railways in 1988.

It now houses the Museum of Philippine Political History (Museo ng Kasaysayang Pampulitika ng Pilipinas) of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).
