Perched on Naidi Hills, the lighthouse features a 6-story building with a gallery or viewing deck that overlooks Batan Island - and a glimpse of Sabtang Island in the south of and Itbayat Island to the north. A traditional Ivatan stone house lies beside, and an "I <3 Batanes" marker can be found out front.

It was originally built in 1779 and then known as San Miguel Church. On September 27, 2009, it was declared as an Important Cultural Property by the National Museum of the Philippines.
